TiviMate Picture Quality: Fix Blur, Stutter & Low Resolution

Quick Answer: TiviMate does not create higher-quality video than the source stream provides. If the picture is blurry, stuttering, or unexpectedly low resolution, compare another channel and check the source, network, device output and playback settings.

First Check the Source#

Test several channels. If only one channel looks poor, the source may be providing a lower-resolution stream. A player cannot restore detail that is not present in the source.

Check Network Stability#

Buffering and repeated quality changes can make video appear poor. Test the connection on the same TV and compare another stream from the same playlist.

Check TV Output#

Make sure the television or streaming device is configured for the resolution and refresh rate you expect. Device-level display settings can affect every application.

Reduce Unnecessary Variables#

  1. Test another channel.
  2. Restart playback.
  3. Restart the device.
  4. Check the network.
  5. Compare the same source on another supported device if available.

Picture Quality vs Buffering#

If the picture repeatedly stops or drops frames, use the TiviMate buffering guide. If playback is smooth but the image remains low resolution, investigate the source stream and display settings instead.
